Dental crowns are artificial caps that are placed over the tops of teeth to strengthen them. Dental bridges are created with dental crowns to fill in the gaps of missing teeth. A gold-reinforced tooth can be either ceramic or porcelain. At Smile at Ashburn Dental, you can get your smile back with dental crowns and bridges.

Both crowns and bridges are used to complete a full smile. Dental crowns and bridges are usually made of gold, porcelain, or a combination of both.

The purpose of dental crowns is to stabilize teeth that have been weakened by tooth decay, an injury, or gum disease. Crowns can be used to cover a large filling so that a smaller crown can be placed over it. These are most commonly used on the front teeth, where they are the most visible.

Dentistry has been around for ages, but modern technology has perfected the process. Artificial teeth are attached to metal frames and cemented next to your existing teeth to fill in the gap caused by one or more missing teeth. A tooth is then attached between the two metal frames (called abutments) that make up the bridge. For additional support and stability for your natural teeth and gums, dental bridges can also be set up with three or more artificial teeth instead of two if needed.

A big advantage that you get with dental bridges over other types of replacements like dentures is that they allow your natural teeth to support as much as possible while still providing you with a beautiful smile and great chewing ability when compared with dentures, which only provide limited chewing ability because they do not include any natural teeth.
